Biggest Draft Steals in hockey history

Hockey players to prove only the love, the scouts wrong. Teams take a large amount of heat from fans and media alike, if they meet the court at a player, the bet seems like a lock to become a star in the NHL, but ultimately proves to be a bust. But the scouts are rarely given their due credit, if the result is vice versa. Occasionally, a player the chance to defy selected later in the draft and with bleak prospects for an NHL career will be, all these players by surprise their respective teams, and in some cases to NHL stars. If this happens, the Scouts still seems to take heat because everyone wonders how 29 other teams in this next coming of Wayne Gretzky led for so many laps. Either way, it's hard to win as a scout, but these hard-working hockey gurus, the countless miles traveling to scour the world for hidden talents can take satisfaction in the fact that they have seen their team better NHL potential a player, if all else saw a never-will-be. Here is my list of hidden treasures. Top 10 NHL Draft steals for the current entry draft rules were implemented in 1980.

10 – Dominik Hasek

Dominik Hasek had would rank much higher on the list, the Chicago Blackhawks actually believed he would one day play for them if they total it 207th selected in the 1983 draft. At that time, Hasek home country of Czechoslovakia under communist rule, and there seemed no way possible that Hasek will ever make it to North America to play hockey. Chicago Killing, however, and Hasek came to the NHL, when Communist rule ended in his country. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks did not wait long enough to develop Hasek, and the unorthodox goalie went to 6 and 2 Hart Trophies Vezinas in Buffalo and a Stanley Cup in Detroit.

9 – Pavol Demitra

Designed by the Ottawa Senators in 1993, has proved these Slovakian Superstar really think he steals one of the largest ever NHL Draft. Drafted 227th Total Demitra never really started a lot of senators for the low team, but his talent

to reveal itself once he joined the St. Louis Blues in 1997-98. He spent seven productive seasons there, netting 490 points in 486 games for the team. Since then he has to Los Angeles and Minnesota, where he was one of the league's deadliest duos with other Slovak star, Marian Gaborik is moved.

8 – Steve Sullivan

The inclusion of these tiny runabout might surprise some people, but as its 233rd selection total occupied, it seems that people always underestimate him again. Though only 5 '8 "tall and 165 pounds, Sullivan has proven that he's head to play against the biggest, strongest players in the game upside down by his speed, agility and exceptional hands and gaining points against the opposition, and many its objectives are to highlight diversity.

7 – Evgeni Nabokov

It could probably 10 goalies on this list of the top 10 NHL draft steals of all time. To develop goalies, so late in his hockey career in comparison to their other players that it is extremely difficult to determine how well you age of 18. The San Jose Sharks were probably only the thumb and hope when they Nabokov 219th lasted into the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. It took Nabokov nearly 7 years before he became a regular player in the NHL, but since then he has rewarded the Sharks' faith with 208 victories, 40 shutouts and a stingy 2.37 GAA career.

6 – Daniel Alfredsson

Back when the Ottawa Senators turned the league in the early 90s, their dismal record gave them an enviable position in draft table. But it never seemed to take those high first round, that swung it for, but the hidden treasures in the later rounds of the NHL Entry Draft will be reduced. Their current captain, and all around best player is Daniel Alfredsson is a good example. He has made a consistent point producer year after year, amassing 847 points in 853 career games and led the Sens to the Stanley Cup Finals in the 2006-07 season.

5 – Henrik Zetterberg

Even Hakan Anderson, director of European scouting Detroit, Zetterberg admits he was lucky with, hang him 210th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Not the superstar Swede Detroit lineup to crack the 2002-2003 season and put up average numbers his first 2 seasons. But after the lockout in 2004-05, the NHL Zetterberg returned a changed man. He had matured physically and mentally his skills were far superior to what it was. Since then he has a point a game average, while established itself as one of the leading defensive forwards in the league. Done with the time of his career, he will not steal one of the greatest draft in NHL history to remain in memory doubts.

4 – Theoren Fleury

The NHL, like the NBA has a problem with discrimination against small players, and this list of the top 10 NHL draft steals of all time has a liberal sprinkling of these "small" people. Fleury, a 5 '6 "hyped as big as anyone in the course of his career, and was never afraid to go to the tough areas to get his points. He broke up over a 1,000 points in his NHL career after the acquisition of 1987 passed by the 166th Entry Draft pick.

3 – Pavel Datsyuk

Boy in Detroit certainly has a bright future for themselves. Not only do they steal the country's largest design in 1999 with Zetterberg, but the year before that she committed an even bigger coup landed smoothly Russian forward Pavel Datsyuk with the 171st Pick. Whatever they pay Hakan Anderson, they should double, because this guy is made of light when it comes to recognizing potential talent. Datsyuk is probably the most skilled stick handler in the game and his excellent offensive game and stellar defensive play (2007-08 Selke nominee) to help the Detroit Red Wings systematically mowing down the competition on the way to a probable Stanley Cup.

2 – Doug Gilmour

Gilmour was not only one of the greatest NHL Draft steals the time, but he could place one on a list of all time earning trading steals. He weighed only £ 175, but 150 of them had heart. Gilmour was the 134th overall by the St. Louis Blues drafted in 1982. He placed a large number in St. Louis, but was traded to Calgary after allegations of sexual misconduct. He continued his hot scoring pace and helped Calgary, their only Stanley Cup championship in team history. He was traded to Toronto in the lopsided deals in NHL history. "Killer" was like every player in hockey history and determined to prove his 1414 career points, that he steal a great design.

1 – Luc Robitaille

Despite setting up astronomical numbers to junior, was "Lucky" until the 9th Round, 171 drafted by the LA Kings in total. Scouts worried that his poor skating ability he would a liability, but Robitaille used his hockey sense and an exceptional shot that skating is not to prove the A-end-all in the game of hockey. He won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year, appeared in eight All Star Games, won Stanley Cup and finished his career as an NHL all time leading scorer on the left wing position with 668 goals and 1394 points. Lucky Luc proved them all wrong, and is fully deserves the number one on the list of the top 10 NHL draft steals of all time.
