Citizen Kane begins with the confirmation of the death of the main character, Charles Foster Kane. A report follows that condenses the 70-year-old Charles Foster Canea? S lives in a few minutes. The report is not in chronological order, but the order in which it is presented is a microcosm of the order of events in the procedure scenes from Citizen Kane. Conventionally, the death of the main character and detailing the events of the most important characterâ? S life, where the Filma? S is based story would mean the end of a Hollywood movie. But Citizen Kane in the death of the protagonist and flashbacks about his life are an introduction to a puzzle, which is built up in the process scenes in no particular order by a series of sequences from different perspectives. A more nearly complete portrait of Kane is revealed gradually. This guide informs the viewer what is Kane, but not how he did it and who he was.
After the newspaper report, Welles cuts the screening room, where the report was projected. Welles shows a room full of Journalistâ? S just before the end of the report. By abruptly cutting reportage from the obituary of Charles Foster Canea? S life, Welles places the viewer in the present. By the viewer into the present with the journalist, Welles creates tension. In the last two scenes inform the viewer learns of the results of Canea? S acts but Welles failed to show the events that led to these results. What follows is the exploits of a journalist to like Thompson. Thompson wants more of who Kane really learn and what his last word â? Rosebudâ? meant. Thompson is not a vehicle for the Citizen Kane diegesis been fully investigated. Thompson was one of the people interviewed, the Kane, his ex-wife, Susan Alexander, and close colleagues, Bernstein and Leland. Together through these interviews, a portrait of Charles Foster Kane gradually.
Thompson first visited the library of Canea? S former guardian, Thatcher. Thompson reads through Thatcherâ? S manuscript about the search for more details on Kane. Thompson seeks to Thatcherâ information? S and Canea? S relationship and an explanation of the term â? Rosebudâ?, The Canea was? S last word before dying. Welles uses Thompson and his act of reading of the manuscript as a trigger for the assembly of the contents of the manuscript. This event moves back in time and the viewer sees is a representation of Thatcherâ? S manuscript represented in chronological order. The reappearance of the Thatcher library official end of the trigger assembly and move the viewer from a Thatcher-oriented representation of sequences of Canea? S lives up to the present.
Thompson then proceeds with a series of interviews with people close to lead by Kane. He begins with Bernstein. As the manuscript used Bernsteinâ Welles? S storytelling as a catalyst for a flashback. While the order of the sequence is chronological, some of the scenes back to previous times in the previous Flash backa shown? S at Thatcherâ? S library. With the return to earlier periods of history that were in the Thatcher manuscript assembly shown shows Welles events closer to the example in the Thatcher-flashback, the viewer learns that Kane bought the researchers, but in Bernstein's flashback, the viewer learns closer to the time, in the Kane took over the questioner. As the flashback is from Bernstein, in his view it is â? Amber is always during the flashback scenes of a gift? This helps the viewer a more rounded opinion Canea? s character. As Bernsteinâ? S flashback ends, and the narrative back to the present, Amber and Thompson put the next interview with Leland.
As with Thompson and the following flashbacks Welles uses the interviewees in this case, Leland, a device for a trip back in time in the Citizen Kane diegesis. Even if events in Lelandâ? S Flashback correlate with the events in the past few flashbacks and the viewer knows, the result of such events, Welles still managed to create tension. Previous Flashbacks have introduced the outcomes of certain events. The viewer knows that Canea? S marriage deteriorates and his political career is not out of the â? News On The Marcha? Report at the beginning of Citizen Kane. All the observer can not know in relation to the events is when Canea? S failed political career and his marriage and not, as his political career and failing marriage. This combination of the viewer to know, without telling the end result, how and when the end result is to create the tension reached. This uncertainty is the fact that Welles be another vehicle used to provide a representation of Kane project, coupled by the memories of Leland in a montage.
Kane is evolving and growing tension in Citizen Kane with the recurring motif of â? Rosebudâ?. As the viewer on a journey from past to the eyes and memories of different sources, that Thatcher's manuscript, Bernstein, Leland, ex-wife, Susan Alexander and the Xanadu Manager (Raymond) is made present, Thompson goes, the meaning to examine one behind? ? Rosebudâ;? Obtain an individual perspective different from the others in relation to a possible explanation of a Rosebudâ?. It is not until the end of Citizen Kane is the â? Rosebudâ? Mystery's solved, and the voltage up in the previous scenes of the movie is filled up with a resolution.
By the movement forward and backward in time, aided by the use of the above vehicles for the movement, Welles creates a form of pulsating rhythmic assembly, which is constantly changing. In Bernstein's flashback, the audience finds the Inquirerâ? S growth through a series of quick shots that are both cut together that condense a number of years, about one minute of actual air time. Welles' use of the assembly in flashbacks is not limited to Bernsteinâ? S, but in all of Welles Terms This technique is not very detailed. Every detail that will be significant to the narrative and is introduced briefly in a montage revisited in another: For example, the montage shows Alexandera Susan's opera career?. The career is first mentioned in the montage of shots in the â? News on the Marcha? Report at the beginning of the movie, then later in the film in Alexandera Susan? developed? s flashback.
Welles's insistence on moving back and forth in time to further develop information and previous episodes of new show sequences of information leaves the burden of proof for the observer to the events in space and time to connect. One could argue that Welles' insistence that the burden of proof to link events in chronological order, are left to the viewer, is potentially confusing. It might even be argued successfully that this technique Welles surrounded by a mystery that even at the end does not keep really solved. The viewer must constantly balance falls reorganization events in chronological order with digesting the new and evolving information such as Citizen Kane, the further the viewer is immersed in the film and to some extent it puts into the story.
Finally Welles use of abrupt cutting of first Thatcherâ? S manuscript montage of time leads to another, a concept of time-frequency transform used during the rest of the film. Orson Welles uses several triggers for flashbackâ? S, imagine that issues like Canea? S time to the researchers, who initially does not explain in detail, but shown in more detail later in flashbacks by the use of any type, this solves interviews with Canea? Bernstein and Leland's closest aides. The introduction of such topics in the previous flashback, and they develop later, Welles builds tension that captivates the viewer and to some degree gives them a share in the history and explanation of Canea? S life. The use of different people, interacting with Kane in his life helping his wife and his colleagues etc to build a progressive portrait of Kane from different perspectives. The introduction of themes and events in Canea s life in an assembly and re-appearance in another, often again in the form of montage sequences? Through the use of quick cutting in these assembly sequences, in combination with the rest of the film, a developed sense of rhythm, which further encourages the viewer. The use of beta? Rosebudâ? like a thread through the flashbacks and interviews with Thompson, developed tension and leads a sense of mystery that is not even at the end of Citizen Kane might actually solved. The effect of the change back to a time previously explored is that the viewer closer to events and seen as Welles uses different characterâ? S to trigger this flashbackâ? S Kane, the viewer sees different perspectives and in different perspectives, we might learn to Canea the greatest truths? s character, free from individual bias or opinion research. The constant change in the time of the presence of Thompson examines Canea? S life, memories of Canea? S life from various perspectives, none set in chronological order, the burden of proof is on the viewer to assemble the case. Coupled with the tension and excitement was previously developed by Welles, is the burden of proof to gather events, left to the viewer: Orson Welles's insistence that leave the burden of mounting events to the viewer, coupled with the tension and excitement before the use of film developed the emergent techniques the viewer deeper into the story and gives them a stake in the outcome of various events in the life of Charles Foster Kane.
