Necessary Tips For Hitting Baseball

There is a right way and a wrong way to hit a baseball. Coaches and parents have a tendency to encourage players to have a level swing. Intentions are good, but there's a problem with this advice. A truly level swing is unnatural. It causes your hands to begin and end at chest level. Instead, here is another perspective on these Particular baseball hitting tips.

Rather than striving for a level swing, you should practice and perfect what's known as the swing slightly up. This swing does not involve dipping your shoulder, as this would cause you to pop up or fly out. Instead, this natural swing will give you better at bats.

The swing starts up slightly at your chest, goes through the hitting zone and your finish should be high above your head. It's almost like a "U" shape if you were to draw it. This swing is Necessary since the pitcher's mound is 18 inches higher than you are in the batter's box. Add to that the height of the pitcher and the height of his hand as he releases the ball and when the pitch is thrown, it comes to you on a downward plane. The swing slightly up helps place your bat on the same level as the pitch.

In addition to the bat swing slightly up, be sure to maintain proper hitting mechanics throughout your at. Keep your shoulders parallel to the plate while the ball is being pitched and keep your front shoulder closed and low until contact. If your shoulder leaves and opens up too soon then you are in danger of making a mistake. You are not dipping your shoulder or your hips opening up too early either.

During your swing, keep your top hand contact slightly below the bottom hand on. This helps create the upward arc of the bat when it meets the ball. Just watch any major league baseball game and observe the hitters' swings very carefully. You want this spot slightly up swing on almost every player. I recently saw a walk-off single by the Cardinals Colby Rasmus and it was a beautiful swing. With runners on first and second, one out and a 1-1 count, he ripped a fastball up slightly with that swing into right field for a line drive single.
