Even though the calendar shows spring now and we recently moved the clocks by one hour so that it stays lighter later, it seems harsh winter weather continues. One day we experience a quick teaser that spring was on its way with plenty of sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures. Less than 24 hours later we can have a high wind warning for storm force winds, record snowfall, flooding, seisimic activity and to experience a variety of other disruptive weather conditions. Spring officially occurred when the day and night are equal on 20 March 2011 at 11:21 Eastern Standard Time clock. That's when the northern hemisphere, day and night are approximately equal in length. Here in the north eastern United States, some spring flowers bloom and Robins beginning to be seen in our backyards.

Many of us are fascinated by the weather. It seems like the weather is the main topic of many conversations. The plans are made and canceled due to weather. But we have no control over what Mother Nature has to have on stock.

However, we can be prepared for all types of hazards through the purchase of an All Hazards NOAA Public Alert Weather Radio.

NOAA is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts (NWR) is a national network of radio stations that continuously broadcast weather and emergency information, including all types of hazards, including chemical releases, oil spills, Amber and Silver Alerts, tornadoes, hurricanes, heavy rain, snow , ice, floods, etc. 7 days a week 24 hours a day. A NOAA public alert radio has the ability, over 95% of the U.S. population by 1000 stations that make broadcasts available to reach all 50 states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and U.S. Pacific Territories. A special NOAA radio receiver is required to have access to these transfers. Broadcast messages can be lifesaving. A NOAA Public Alert Radio should be among your emergency preparedness items.
