harry shearer – The U.S. Has Been Torturing

Defenders of the "enhanced interrogation techniques" – they are only techniques, after all – have seen time and again that the treatment does not cross the line into the forbidden land of torture. Critics of the story – the United States used to track people for waterboarding made. Now we have a few hard facts in the form of the decisions of federal courts.

Habeas corpus by the Supreme Court decision on Guantanamo detainees, the prisoners ever federal court hearings on the adequacy of their arrests.

And buried way down in the body of the Washington Post on Saturday reported on the hearing of this bomb:

The government also Hatim on interrogations and his testimony in military hearings in which he said, to have authorized the training in an al-Qaida military camp is deserted. The judges were skeptical about such statements, if the government provides evidence that the men did not ill-treated seriously. In Hatim's case, the Justice Department has not denied his claim that he was tortured in U.S. custody and that he be admitted to avoid further abuse.

This is the U.S. Department of Justice, a prisoner was not denied the allegation that he was not tortured in U.S. custody, subject to the fact that he was only in improved techniques or other tortured euphemism. If you think that there is an exceptional case, here is more:

Musa'ab al-Madhwani had admitted to interrogators, and testified before military hearings that he had trained in an al-Qaida camp and traveled with its members in Afghanistan and Pakistan, show records.
But the detainees lawyers argued that the statements were tainted because her client was brutally tortured while in U.S. custody in Cuba before his arrival. He admitted only to prevent further abuse, she argued. The government did not deny Madhwani claims.

And …

Binyam Mohamed, … provided the government its sensational allegation said: He that the Algerian interrogators trained in an al-Qaida camp in Afghanistan. Kessler wrote that she could not believe Mohamed allegations because he had been mistreated in foreign and U.S. custody. The government does not deny his well-known accounts of torture.

So far, the ratio of arrests confirmed this was rejected 9-32. These have been placed in a federal court in which the rules according to the Post, in order to favor the government.
