Michael Douglas is hoping to defeat cancer, "Intense"

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Michael Douglas, said on Tuesday he had an 80 percent cure rate of advanced laryngeal cancer.

The 65-year-old "Wall Street" actor told TV talk show, David Letterman, a biopsy that showed that his cancer in stage IV, which he described as "has been described extensively, and so they have to .. it go."

Noting that Douglas's revelation drew an audience from the breath of the New York show, Letterman asked if there was a good diagnosis of stage IV.

"The percentages are very good," Douglas added. "I would hate to say, but at the moment, it looks like it should be 80 per cent, and with certain hospitals, and everything to improve it.

Douglas told Letterman that his cancer was caused by his drinking and smoking.

He said his throat was disturbing him for a while, and a variety of doctors put him through a series of tests in early summer, but had found nothing.

After a summer break, he underwent a biopsy, which revealed his advanced cancer.

He expressed disappointment with the doctors, who could not find nothing, "because I was in the beginning it started in the summer, complaining about something, but they could not see it that way."
