Tough love and the strength can be hard. As parents or grandparents raising teens today, it can be difficult to know when to hold on tight and when to let go and allow them to make their own mistakes. Tough Love is a hot topic in the media lately – the idea of love your children, but allow them to make their mistakes and learn from them without saving them, or save them from the consequences. The idea behind this is that storing teenager from the consequences of his actions only encourages further bad behavior in the future.

Tough love is not a way for everyone. It requires strength and determination on the part of supervisors – a commitment from all parties that have the teens deal with the consequences of their behavior. This means that, if he is arrested, he may have to spend a night in jail. When she becomes pregnant, she will have to learn how to be a mother and go to school at the same time. You have to see how your child is struggling to learn new skills. It is really a lesson from the school of hard knocks, but love is tough for some people the only way to learn.

As a caregiver or parent, you can advise, support and encouragement, while loving your teen by their poor choice – tough love is not about doing without. It is not to give in and not bailing them out. They have made their choices in life, and now they have to do with their actions. Tough love is not an easy path for the caregiver or the teen, and is often chosen as a last resort, after trying many other possibilities and have failed. You must be strong and assert themselves to be.

If your child is using drugs or alcohol involved, this approach can be particularly difficult. You have to give them money as it used to be to buy some drugs to be avoided. Tough love is often harder on the caregiver than it is to the child because they are constantly put on the spot. You will constantly be the "bad guy", and have rejected the claims with your child.

Most importantly, is tough love a learning experience. Failed after teenagers or young adults, learn by teaching, praise, reinforcement or punishment, as they grow, can it tough love of the toughest teachers learn – life itself. In consideration of your children or grandchildren, their own decisions and to require them to make decisions with which they stick is strong, independent people. It will also test your strength, patience and perseverance. They do not call it "tough" love for nothing! It is emotionally demanding and incredibly difficult for everyone involved. However, if this is the path you have chosen to stick with it! The rewards are well worth the investment, at the end.
