Samantha Stosur, the Australian tennis player crushed the Russian Vera Zvonareva in the first round of the Medibank International.
The Medibank International is a professional tennis tournament held in Sydney, Australia. It is 1935 and the fifth oldest tennis tournament in the world is known. The tournament includes both men's singles and doubles and women's singles and doubles events.
Samantha Stosur, which is just 22 years old, started in 1999, professional tennis on the ITF circuit. In 2001 she won four straight ITF titles: three in Japan and the other in Australia.
In 2004 she reached the semifinals of the Gold Coast event, after they beat Meghann Shaughnessy, Karolina Šprem and Magui Serna, before he defeated by Ai Sugiyama, who would win the tournament.
Samantha in 2005 ended the year ranked # 96 in singles and # 2 in doubles.
In 2006 she represented Australia together with Todd Reid at the Hopman Cup and won all their singles matches. Then she lost in the first round of the Sydney-Nicole Vaidisova in three sets.
